Whale Bones

Not long before my arrival at MacDonald Spit on Alaska’s Kachemak Bay, a whale had beached there and was decomposing. Only Alaskan Native Americans are permitted to collect whale remains and I met two who had filled their trailer pulled by a 4 wheeler with the magnificent bones and allowed me photograph them. During the month I spent living on MacDonald Spit I often walked the two-sided beach and am happy to share some of the tidepool and shoreline discoveries in these photographs.
